Tender Herbs and Grass

Deut 32:2-4
Let my teaching drop as the rain, my speech distill as the dew,
As raindrops on the tender herb, and as showers on the grass.
For I proclaim the name of the LORD: Ascribe greatness to our God.
He is the Rock, His work is perfect; for all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice; righteous and upright is He. NKJV

As we proclaim His name and praise Him, giving honor to Him whose work is perfect, the rain will fall. As we soak up His Word, our thirst will be quenched. The work that He does is perfect in every way—truthful, just, and pure.
Notice that the rain falls on the tender plants in drops, but on the grass in showers. What kind of plant are you? Are you just getting started, barely able to survive? God will send you what you need—not too much, nor too little. Are you strong enough to withstand the bruising of feet? Are you taken often for granted? Ignored, yet steadfast and faithful, not lifted up in pride nor drawing attention to yourself? God promises you showers.

There shall be showers of blessing.
O, that today they might fall.
Now as to God we’re confessing.
Now as on Jesus we call.
Showers of blessing, showers of blessing we need.
Mercy drips ‘round us are falling,
but for the showers we plead.
